Giggles in the Studio

June 8th, 2010

With a few weekends of weddings to look forward to coming up, I’ve been catching up on my studio sessions.  These little ladies seemed to enjoy themselves that’s for sure, although there was still time for a cuddle with Daddy during a quiet moment – thanks for visiting!

Lots of Studio Fun!

May 21st, 2010

I’ve had a busy week in the studio with the return of some clients I’ve known for a while and also some new faces that it’s been lovely to meet.  One little chap shared with me his love of chocolate buttons (well who doesn’t love a button?) and the little lady pictured was a natural poser (in the nicest sense) and captured the thoughtful look a treat I thought!

Horsham Registry Office & Birling Manor

May 14th, 2010

The last couple of weekends I have been lucky enough to be at two weddings – Kate and Peter at Birling Manor (near Eastbourne) and Elizabeth and Andrew who had their ceremony at Horsham Registry Office and their reception at the Plough and Attic Rooms in Rusper.

Kate and Peter had fabulous weather for their wedding at Birling Manor, and the smell of the barbecue really added to the summer feel of the day - hard to believe it was still only the end of April!   The photography was lots of fun, and the Hungarian families (it was a truly international marriage) were nice enough to have a guess at what I was asking of them and sometime even laugh at my jokes even though not all of them had any idea of what I was waffling on about.

Elizabeth and Andrew had finally decided to tie the knot after 15 years and I was very happy to have been invited to take care of their wedding photography. The Horsham Registry Office is very lovely inside and even boasts a colourful garden outside which is perfect for pictures.

No weddings for me this weekend, just a busy weekend in the studio with lots of new families and a few old friends.  Much to look forward to!

The Death of the Cupcake?

May 10th, 2010

Whoopie Pie Wedding Cake TrendWell most people can’t resist a cupcake and they’ve certainly captured a good share of the wedding market over the last few years.  Whether in subtle white co-ordinating designs or all the colours of a rainbow, the cupcake wedding cake seems to be here to stay.  But then the Whoopie Pie has arrived and are we looking at the end of the road for our frosted cupcake friends?

I don’t know – they look pretty good to me as there certainly seems to be a huge variety of styles, colours and sizes on the market, plus lots of great recipes for you to make yourself.  I’ll always love a cupcake, but perhaps we’ll start to see Whoopie Pie Wedding Cakes as well this season.  I’m off to the kitchen now to give them a whirl – purely in the spirit of research you understand…

Pet Photography

May 7th, 2010

Studio pet photography is something we’ve been meaning to advertise for a while now so when we were offered this assignment, we jumped at the chance.  She is quite simply the most gorgeous girl we have ever had in the studio!  Nellie is an 18 month old supermodel :)

Portrait Studio Visitors

May 7th, 2010

Had some lovely visitors – both new faces and old friends – in the portrait studio over the last couple of weeks.  Firstly, I had the Taylor family who brought with them a very new addition who found the whole experience of portrait photography by turns fascinating and all a bit much.  But I also had studio sessions with some other visitors who took the whole photography experience a little more in their stride!  It was equally lovely to meet them all and I look forward to seeing them in a couple of months time.

White Tie Events Wedding Fair – Worthing

May 5th, 2010

No rest for the wicked as the saying goes, so instead of enjoying the weather (well OK, enjoying might be the wrong word), I was working in the studio on Saturday and then Steve and I were at a 2 day wedding fair down in Worthing for the rest of the weekend.  This took place at Steyne Gardens and if you were in the area, you might have seen the huge marquee we were all in.  It was an excellent event from our point of view as we met lots of lovely people and got to tell them all about our photography but also from a bride’s point of view as there was so much to see and do there.    Don’t worry if you missed it though as they are doing it all again in September http://www.whitetieevents.co.uk/

Also, we carried out our first studio dog portrait at the weekend.  Pet photography has been something that we have been trying to get around to for ages in the studio and it was certainly worth the wait – can’t wait to show you all the photos, that was one extremely gorgeous (and well behaved) pooch!

Alexander House Hotel Wedding

April 23rd, 2010

Been a very lazy blogger over the past few weeks but I am back now (after a lovely few days on holiday in Kent – who says the UK isn’t a great place to visit?) with an armful of resolutions and lots of great new plans.

Last weekend I was at Ashdown Park Hotel with Steve working on a wedding for some clients that wanted both of us there on their big day.  It was a beautiful sunshine-y day that could easily fool you into thinking that it was summer and the bride was absolutely stunning (no disrespect to the groom, he scrubbed up OK) but I don’t have any pictures to share with you as Steve has them all to work on.

So instead, I’ll share with you the wedding from the weekend before where I was lucky enough to spend the day with Danielle and Warren – it certainly has been a good month for stunning brides – she looked gorgeous and wedding photography at Alexander House Hotel is alwasy full of opportunities, it really is a beautiful venue.  The sun was shining and the daffodils were out, most helpfully co-ordinating with the wedding’s yellow colour scheme…

The Studio gets the Thumbs Up!

Better Late than Never!

March 12th, 2010
I don’t have any weddings this weekend but there are quite a few sessions booked into the studio so I will still be keeping busy.
I’ve seen some old friends and some new faces this week. I met the Milton family who finally managed to get everyone in the same place for a family photo for their dad for Father’s Day. I was really impressed at their organisational skills until they confessed that it was actually for last father’s day and they’d only just got round to it – still better late than never!
I also caught up with the lovely Zara who, at the tender age of 9 months, enjoyed her modelling experience and smiled like a little star for the whole session. Although I do wonder if she found all a little less glamorous than she expected from the second picture!
